Try Something New

My suggestion to anyone asking for advice concerning a New Year’s Resolution would be: try something new that will promote personal growth. For example, some adults have never read a complete book in their adult lives. Given the complexity of the modern world, there are surely many books that can assist one in their life’s endeavors. Perhaps one could start with biographies of famous individuals, such as Abe Lincoln or Mark Twain, to learn how others have dealt with life’s difficulties. We have been told that a recent U.S. president did not know the difference between a Sunni and a Shiite Muslim. That sort of ignorance on the part of any individual in a position of power is surely very dangerous. As we each approach the beginning of a new year, adopting a resolution that promotes intellectual, spiritual or physical development is surely something to be advocated.
