Some Religions Promotes Wealth

There are a great many links between religion and wealth, but often these links are mediated by various social factors. Calvinism in particular views economic prosperity as a sign of God’s grace and as symbolic of divine election. However, Jesus said it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to get into Heaven. One very prominent consideration bearing upon one’s economic wellbeing concerns the incidence of divorce. A divorce within a family often has a very negative effect on a family’s economic wellbeing. Religions that strongly discourage divorce tend to promote economically stronger families. Families that stay together find it much easier to succeed economically. The most affluent two groups on the list, viz. the Jews and the Hindus both discourage divorce. That is not to say that members of those religions never get divorced, for some certainly do.
