A Philosopher’s Resolution

Many people regularly formulate new year’s resolutions annually, most of which seldom are retained or remembered into February. Others, recalling failed resolutions from previous years, have given up on formulating new ones. So I’ll approach this question hypothetically, i.e. if I were required to have a set of religious/spiritual resolutions for 2015, what would they be? Approached in this manner, my answer would be the same every year. My resolution is to engage my entire rational and critical ability to understand as fully as possible the conceptual and philosophical aspects of our human interaction with abiding questions of a metaphysical, religious, and spiritual nature. These issues are of intense concern to many of my students as well as my readers, and are worthy of the effort. I believe there is a truth behind these matters, and only by critically examining the texts, arguments and evidence can such truth be discovered.
